Becoming a Christian

HOW TO BECOME A CHRISTIAN

Have you ever wondered what it means to become a Christian? Or how it could change your life? Why is becoming a Christian so important?

Maybe there are things in your life that don't seem to be going very well, and you've tried lots of solutions, but none seems to work. Perhaps, things are going well for you but you still feel like your missing something. Everyone has questions about their own lives. If you haven't found answers that work for you, why not listen to what God has to say?

God's Word has the answers that are grounded in truth and love. Jesus has answers to problems just like the ones you face every day. Knowing and becoming a Christian gives your life purpose, meaning, joy and peace unlike any thing in this world.

Do you wish there was someone who really cared about you? Someone you could ALWAYS count on? - NO MATTER WHAT!

We have great good news for you! There are several important things you need to know that could lead to the greatest decision you will ever make in your life.  What does God want you to know today and how will you respond?

God’s Design from the beginning.

The Bible tells us that God created the earth and everything in it.  The crowning moment of all creation was when God made man and woman in His own image.  That means that the capacity for holiness, goodness, and wisdom was fully realized in mankind.  Though God Himself created the entire world including the universe, He gave dominion rule over the earth to mankind.  Man’s responsibility was to watch over and care for God’s creation.  For a time man lived in paradise in relationship with God.

Our Depravity (sin nature) caused by Adam’s sin

However, the Bible also tells us that Adam and Eve sinned against God by disobeying His command.  Therefore, they fell in their position with God.  As a result of the fall they received a sin nature, death entered the world, and they were removed from paradise and separated from God.  All people have a sin nature and given the opportunity will choose to sin against God and others from time to time.  Sin is a separator in every relationship whether it is with parents, siblings, spouse, or children.  When we sin against others it drives us apart and because we sin we are separated from God already.

God’s Demonstration of Love

Because God loves mankind which He created, He set about to make away possible for mankind to be saved from sin.  His plan was to call a man named Abram and his wife Sarah to follow Him.  Through the descendants of Abraham, his son Isaac, and Isaac’s son Jacob (whose name was changed to Israel) a nation would grow, a people of God.  From Israel came a “God – man” named Jesus born of a virgin.  God was His Father and Mary was his mother.  Because Jesus was the incarnation of God in human flesh He was born perfect and lived sin free.  Though He was tempted to sin in all the ways humans are, He chose not to sin.  This was important, because in order to die for the sins of the world he had to be perfect.  God’s plan was for Jesus to die on a cross at Calvary for your sins and mine.  The Bible as well as historical records show that Jesus died on a cross by the hands of the Romans and that He rose again from the dead on the third day.  Why did God do all of these things?  Because He loves YOU! The Bible says,

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever

believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16 NIV).

Question:  How does someone receive this free gift of salvation from God?

Our Decision to believe in and trust Jesus Christ.

Question: Would you admit that you are a sinner?

The Bible says: For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s  glorious standard (Romans 3:23 NLT).

Question: Do you believe Jesus is God’s Son and that He died and rose  again for you?

The Bible says: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your

heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.. for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved”(Romans 10:9-0,13).

If you would admit that you have sinned against God and you believe that Jesus died and rose again to save sinners then you are ready to receive His free gift of eternal and abundant life.

What do I do now?
